Schlage FE595VCAM505ACC Camelot Keypad Accent Lever Doorlock Bright Brass

Simple to install - superior design5

The features and function of this door lock are far superior to any other similar door locks that I have seen or used. The installation was no more difficult than installing a plain door knob. Getting the battery wire to position like they show in the diagram was about the trickiest part to the whole install.

The unit is solid nothing cheap looking or feeling about it. You can tell by its weight when you lift it that it is solid and the exterior components feel firm and durable not flimsy and simply decorative. The programming can be a little tricky the first time you do it but we found it to be simple and intuitive after the first attempt.

This unit is well designed and built. It is superior to all others that I have seen in this same price range. I can't think of a single thing that I would change to improve it.

Would I buy another? Definitely.More detail ...

Schlage LiNK Wireless Keypad Entry Lever Add-on Lock Satin Nickel

Good Lock system for automation4

I installed these locks on my front and garage door a week ago and surprisingly it has been working flawlessly. I am using (Support Challenged) Micasa Verde Vera as Z-Wave gateway since it's too difficult for me to understand why to pay monthly costs to a service provider when I can do it for free with little or no learning but some patience. Here's my feedback and ovservation so far

Looks: Nice I have brass and matches with other locks in the house from Schlage

Built: Typical Schlage - good

Adding it to Z-wave network "With Vera": Easy enough but I have go through an upgrade and plug-in

Adding Codes: I can add codes "4 Digit" only with names including the ability to control the day and time when the code will be active - example Maid Service or a Nanny who is about to retire. You cannot edit/modify the code but you can remove and re-add.

Lock/Unlock: From outside all you have to do is to enter your code making sure no one is watching with binoculars and you will hear a click and green LED. Turn the knob and it will open. To Close just hit the "Schlage" button after you turn the knob to lock. And yes it does not rotate the knob by itself like other model of Schlage but that is non-Zwave device. You can also use traditional keys to open or close. At night you can press the Schlage button first to illuminate the keys before entering the code - helpful.

Battery and battery life: It comes with 3xAA and 1x9 Volt battery and advertized life is too long to believe but so far I did not see even 1% drop after a week's use.

Status and Remote Operation: You can always see the status of the lock as "Lock" or "Unlock" from any web-browser/iPhone etc. Operate it from anywhere to let someone in.

Notification: You can program using Zwave gateway to send you notification Via SMS/Email alert case a particular code is used OR wrong code is used.

Fun/Programming: Being Z-wave you can trigger several events when a particular code is used including but not limited to switching on lights case it's dark or start thermostat to cool/heat your home. Each of these events require additional hardware/device or a module.

Security: Schlage lock and your Z-wave gate will secure the transmission over RF (Radio Frequency) using encryption keys (digital keys - something similar to when you access your bank over SSL/https web browser). This is from what I have read so far before purchasing and so far I am convinced that it is easier to find someone's keys under the doormat as compared to hacking the security of the lock with the exception of those binoculars or being careless to use easy numbers like 1234 (as my 5 year suggested me :-) for his code)

Elderly/Disabled: Terrific use to avoid going to the door to let someone in. Can combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera to know who is at the door before clicking unlock.

Cons:

-
Not a motorized lock. Case you forget all you can do is to program Z-Wave gate to remind you that door is still unlocked

-
Incoming traffic is logged and you know when someone is coming in but there Is no way possible to know when someone leaves

-
One more thing in life to make you couch potato especially when you combine with a motion sensor and an IP Camera at your front door.

Hope you'll find what you're looking for. Additionally Kwickset also announced series of upcoming product based on this technology. Competition may bring the price down - possibly.

Schlage Lock 40-132 Rekeying Kit

Schlage Lock Retail Keying Kit is worth the price5

I highly recommend this Schlage Lock Retail Keying Kit for landlords or others that frequently need to change door locks. It is simple to rekey deadbolts and door handle locks with this kit if one has a small collection of Schlage "C" keys which you obtain each time that you purchase a new lock. Lock retailers frequently throw out keys when they rekey locks which is another way to obtain keys just ask! Save $10+ per lock each time you do it yourself. This also reduces the hassle of bringing locks to a locksmith and having a person hang out in the unit until the locks are reinstalled. Just about anyone should be able to follow the simple directions included with the kit.More detail ...

Schlage BE365VPLY626 Plymouth Keypad Deadbolt Satin Chrome

Easy to use and install5

We wanted an easy to use deadlock for our front door. This lock was perfect; it color matched our Schlage antique brass door handle and allowed us to program our own four digit code. It was easy to program our own code but you could also use one of the codes pre-programmed into the lock. For the slightly more paranoid there is an option to clear all the codes and set them yourself. The unit can hold multiple codes so you can have separate codes for yourself your neighbors babysitter etc. and then delete any one specific code once it is no longer needed.

If you are wondering if there is a difference between the Plymouth and Camelot versions of the deadlock -- they are functionally identical. The only difference is how they look; the Plymouth has rounded edges while the Camelot has more shape to the edges. It took me a while to figure out the difference was only cosmetic!

The 9V battery is easy to replace via screws in the back of the lock and the keypad will alert you to a low battery condition. The instructions say the 9V battery should last around three years.

Overall we are happy with the purchase and would recommend the deadbolt to others. Lowe's and Home Depot carry the lock as well but they don't have the full color/finish selection that Amazon did.More detail ...

Schlage BE365VPLY505 Plymouth Deadbolt Keypad Bright Brass

Never get locked out again!4

This keypad deadbolt is a great replacement for a standard deadbolt. Here's what I like about it:

1. This product is a deadbolt that you can lock and unlock without a key. Instead you enter a 4 digit password to lock and unlock the door. Using a code to unlock the door is much faster and easier than fumbling for keys. Also you'll never be locked out unless your forget your code.

2. If you have a deadbolt on your door you can easily remove it and install this deadbolt using a regular screwdriver.

3. You can set multiple codes (at least 5) to allow friends to access your home. You can easily delete the codes later when access is no longer required. Codes are set up using a 6 digit master password (which can be used to add and delete 4-digit access codes but not to lock or unlock the door).

4. You can lock the door without the code. Just press the rectangular Schlage button (at the top) and turn the knob to the right and your door is locked. You will still need a valid code to unlock the door. This makes locking up when you leave very convenient.

5. This lock can be made "bump-proof." Bumping is a relatively new and very easy way to pick most deadbolts. It can be done in about 10 seconds and renders most current locks worthless as security devices. If you want to know more search the internet for "bump key" and you'll be horrified at what you see. If you take this deadbolt to your locksmith before installing it and tell him to disable the key mechanism your deadbolt will be completely resistant to bumping (and keys). I haven't used a key to get into my house since I've installed this.

6. The keypad is backlit but only if you push the schlage key before you enter your code.

7. The unit uses a standard 9-volt battery. I've had mine for more than a year and haven't needed to replace it.

8. The one feature that I wish this deadbolt had was time based entry rules. I'd love to create a password which only works during certain hours so that a housekeeper could access the house on a certain day or at a certain time. Alas nothing is perfect...More detail ...

Schlage BE365VCAM716 Camelot Deadbolt Keypad Aged Bronze

Schlage BE365VCAM619Camelot Deadbolt Keypad5

For years we have been using a key pad activated deadbolt for front doors in our various homes - no keys to lose or give to various family members - only four digit codes. Up until now all of the key pad units we have installed extend and retract the deadbolt using a small battery powered electric motor.

This issue we've encountered is when the batteries become weak the motor (in some cases) does not have enough power to retract the bolt and we must revert to another entrance to get into our home. Although these unit allow one to use a key to override the electronics we never seem to have the key "on us" when it's needed. Fortunately we have a keypad on our garage door and that serves as an alternative entrance when this occurs. These deadbolt retraction failures have been occurring more and more often even with fresh batteries. I suspect the motor is or has worn out.

With this in mind I shopped the market for an electronically activated dead bolt with manual bolt action. In other words instead of a motor extending and retracting the deadbolt one would use a lever or knob to perform this function. The keypad (electronic segment of the unit) would serve to activate the manual knob or lever. I found the Schlage BE365VCAM619 Camelot Deadbolt Keypad Satin Nickel on Amazon at an extremely reasonable price and it has all of the features I wanted - electronic key pad activation manual extension and retraction of the deadbolt upon activation.

The unit arrived yesterday and after a few problems with the unit being confused as to whether the bolt was retracted or extended (my fault) the unit works perfectly. Note I already had a deadbolt lockset on the door so it was a simple process of removing the old and installing the new.

It's an extremely high quality unit without the cheap plastic casing my prior unit had on the inside casing. It's all metal. Changing or adding key pad codes (combinations) is relatively easy. One must enter the units six digit master code (don't lose this code keep it in a place that you can go to each time you wish to change the codes - Using a permanent marker I wrote it on the inside of the lock) and then enter your personal four digit code. We use two codes however the unit can store many codes. You may want to add a temporary code to let a service technician into your home then delete that code when the work is completed.

One feature I like is the lighted key pad which our old unit did not have. If we forget to turn on the porch light by simply pressing the "schlage" button at the top of the keypad the keys light up.

Here's the basic operation.

When you're leaving the house close the door press the "schlage" button wait for the click then extend the deadbolt. You'll hear a confirmation click confirming that the locking knob/lever has been disengaged from the deadbolt after the deadbolt has been extended.

When you arrive home simply enter your four digit code you'll hear a click then manually retract the deadbolt and enter the home. I you wish to use the keypad light; simply press the "schlage" button to light it up. Obviously this is not needed during daylight hours.

Basically the nine volt battery is operating the keypad a knob/level engagement solenoid and the keypad back light and should last for hundreds and hundreds cycles.

Bottom Line - I highly recommend this high quality unit.

Sturdy well made easy to install and use5

I recently bought one of these for our home after we moved in. Now I don't need to fumble with keys every time I need to ket in the house and I don't have to worry about kids losing or forgetting keys.

Like other schlage locks I have owned this unit seems to be very well made sturdy and easy to install. The programming of codes is simple and codes can be added or deleted just by using the keypad. Keypad use as far as entering codes or even updating codes is straighforward. The fact that a simple button push "lights up" the buttons at night is also cool.

The buttons are also epoxy-coated so the numbers won't "wear off" thus revealing the codes used. I have a separate code for each family member and can easily add codes if I have a contractor stopping by.

A key can be used to open the lock if for some reason the electronic part stops functioning (too cold from sub-sero weather perhaps?). Since this is a Schlage lock it can even be re-keyed so that the key you have matches the other Schlage locks your house may have.More detail ...
